Restaurant & Hotel Uniform Costs: A Full Price Breakdown
What it actually costs to uniform a restaurant or hotel staff, role by role, from host polos to chef coats and management suits.
Restaurant & Hotel UniformsRestaurants and hotels dress more roles than almost any other kind of business. A single property might need hosts, servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, housekeeping, and management all in different uniforms, each with a different job to do. That is why “how much does a restaurant uniform program cost” does not have one answer. It depends on which roles you are dressing and what you put them in.
Here is how to think about it role by role, with real per-piece prices.
Front of house: the roles guests see
Front of house uniforms have to look sharp for a full shift and survive daily washing.
- Hosts and servers: usually a branded polo or a dress shirt, depending on how formal the concept is. Polo shirts start at $6.86 a piece at 60 pieces or more, dress shirts at $45 a piece, both with your logo embroidered in the price.
- Bartenders: commonly a dress shirt with an apron, sometimes a vest for a more upscale bar program.
- Management: a blazer or a full tailored suit reads differently than a polo, and it is worth the difference for guest-facing leadership. Jackets start at $185 a piece.
Back of house: built to survive a kitchen
Kitchen uniforms are chosen for durability first, branding second. Chef coats, kitchen crew tees, and aprons need to handle heat, grease, and frequent laundering without falling apart. This is where fabric tier matters more than logo placement. A Standard or Premium fabric selection holds color and shape through more wash cycles than an Economy piece, which matters most on garments that get washed after every shift.
What actually drives the total
Three things move the number for a full uniform program:
- Headcount per role. Ten servers cost differently than three.
- Fabric tier. Economy, Standard, and Premium are all the same garment, fully made and decorated, with a different cloth. See our full uniform pricing for all three tiers.
- Decoration. Machine embroidery is included in every price on our site. Specialty work like puff embroidery is quoted separately. See how embroidery and printing pricing works.
As an example, a small program of 10 server polos, 5 kitchen crew tees, and 2 management jackets at the Economy tier would run roughly 10 × $9.28 + 5 × $3.25 + 2 × $185, before tax and shipping. That is a ballpark to plan around, not a quote. Your real number depends on your fabric tier and headcount, which is why we quote every program individually.
Fabric considerations specific to hospitality
A few things matter more in a restaurant or hotel than in an office:
- Stain resistance on front-of-house pieces, since spills happen in view of guests.
- Wrinkle resistance for staff on long shifts who do not have time to re-press a shirt.
- Breathability in the kitchen, where garments are worn near heat for hours at a time.
We walk through these tradeoffs with you when you pick a fabric tier, using physical samples at our Buckhead workshop if you want to feel the cloth before you order.
